Fingrid — gas turbine relocation and power plant installation

Transmission system operator Fingrid relocated three reserve power plant gas turbines from western Finland to Huutokoski in Joroinen. Karjalan Konepaja delivered the steelwork of the project as a single package: dismantling the turbines, refurbishing structural parts, fabricating new structures and installing them at the new power plant.

We dismantled three turbines — one in Vaasa and two in Pori. Around 100 tonnes of structural parts were refurbished at the group's Harjavalta unit (Panelian Terästyö Oy), and around 200 tonnes of new steel were fabricated at the Parikkala workshop. The project employed the group for approximately two years.

The project illustrates how we work: one partner responsible for the entire chain — from dismantling and refurbishment to fabrication, transport and installation — with a two-site group allocating the work where it is done most efficiently.
