The Karjalan Konepaja Group comprises the parent company Karjalan Konepaja Oy in Parikkala and its subsidiary Panelian Terästyö Oy in Harjavalta. Read more →Karjalan Konepaja Oy (est. 1993) is a solid, privately owned Finnish industrial contract engineering workshop. Production is located in Parikkala, and the group includes the subsidiary Panelian Terästyö Oy in Harjavalta — a contract workshop operating since 1995 that manufactures industrial steel structures and performs equipment installations across Finland (EN 1090-2, EXC1–EXC2). Two production sites mean flexible capacity and installation readiness in both eastern and western Finland.
We manufacture large and demanding steel structures – tubular bridges, conveyor bridges, steel frameworks and power plant structures – covering the whole chain from design to manufacturing, surface treatment, transport and installation. Our special expertise is the welding of large and heavy steel structures, including stainless and acid-resistant steels.
We serve a broad range of industries: forest industry, chemical industry, metal industry, energy and power plants, mining, and data centre projects. Our customers include leading Finnish industrial companies.
We hold the strongest certifications in the field: EN 1090-2 (CE marking, execution classes EXC1–EXC3), ISO 9001 and ISO 3834-2. Our quality management system is audited by Kiwa. In Parikkala, over 3,600 m² of production space houses machining, welding, assembly, pre-treatment and surface treatment under one roof.
We operate across Finland, and our projects extend abroad when needed. Our most exceptional delivery was a pipe bridge project for UPM's pulp mill in Uruguay: oversized transports from Parikkala to the port of Kotka and onwards by sea — a three-month voyage the structures withstood flawlessly.
For transmission system operator Fingrid, we relocated three reserve power plant gas turbines from western Finland to Huutokoski — dismantling, refurbishment, new fabrication and installation as a single delivery.

Karjalan Konepaja Oy's head office and main production are in Parikkala, South Karelia (over 3,600 m²). The subsidiary Panelian Terästyö Oy's production is in Harjavalta, Satakunta, Finland. The group's production facilities total approximately 5,000 m².

Large welded steel structures and assemblies: tubular and conveyor bridges, steel frameworks, power plant structures, access platforms, stairs and ducting.
Our Parikkala workshop has three 10-tonne overhead cranes, and 20-tonne lifts can be made on the same crane runway. Crane capacity does not limit the size of what we build, however: heavier lifts are made with mobile cranes when needed, and in practice the weight of a component is limited by road transport. The largest single component we have manufactured and delivered weighed as much as 107 tonnes.
Our own paint shop in Parikkala is 26.5 m long and 7.0 m wide, with a door 6.8 m wide and 5.4 m high. The largest component painted there without special arrangements is a pipe bridge 27.3 m long, 4.0 m wide and 6.0 m high, which was positioned diagonally in the shop. Larger structures are surface-treated as modular blocks.
